GUEST POST: How I Would Wear...

Hey everybody!

My name’s Claire and along with my blogging partner in crime Lauren, I usually reside over at Stylingo. If you like fashion and beauty, then we would love you to pay us a visit. Today though, I am HUMUNGOUSLY pleased to be blogging for Nicki on 'This Something Life' and thought I would do something a little different to our usual.

After falling in love with this Topshop dress during an online browsing session this week, I started thinking of ways to style it for both day and night. At only £28 I think it’s a really good price for Topshop, and even better value for money when you consider all of the wear you could get out of it.

Here is how I would style the dress for two very different looks:

Look 1: Daytime

I know some people find it a bit glum, but during the winter I just can’t resist donning the dark colours. Black and burgundy feature heavily in my wardrobe at all times, but during the colder months they come out in full force.

Layering different textures is really big this autumn/winter, so I think that the thick knit of the tights with the textured dress and jumper all work brilliantly. The girly fluffiness also contrasts with the tough look of the cut-out boots and the studded backpack, creating a look that manages to be quite clashing while still coordinated.

Look 2: Evening

'MULBERRY' LIPSTICK - SLEEK SPARKLE BOX CLUTCH - NEW LOOK
ARMOUR RINGS - NOWSEEN | LEATHER EMBELLISHED HEELS - MISS SELFRIDGE

Whatever the season, you still want to look glam on a night out and, for me, a dress is always the ultimate way to achieve this. The thick material of this one though will also mean that you handily avoid catching frostbite in the club queue – huzzah! To create the perfect vampy look, all you need is lashing of black, heavy embellishment and a dramatic lipstick.

As we get closer to Christmas, we’ve got the perfect excuse for excessive sparkle – and this amazing bag from New Look is the ultimate statement clutch. Teamed with the embellished heels from Miss Selfridge it’s all very full-on, so I’d keep jewellery to a minimum; this ring from new jewellery brand NOWSEEN is the perfect mix of standout and simplicity.

Both of these looks are easy to wear but also tick lots of trend boxes. I've completely convinced myself that I need this dress – what do you all think?
