Today's creative post comes from the very talented Lola who you can find blogging and sharing other great creative posts over at Lola's Patchwork - Enjoy!!
Now I know we're only in November but with both Halloween and Bonfire night having flown by its time to start thinking about Christmas - a girls gotta have something to look forward to right? Along with the John Lewis and Coca-Cola adverts being aired I thought it was about time to get a little thrifty and festive.
You will need:
- Jam Jars
- Candles
- Ribbons and bows
- Stickers and Baubles
- Glue
- Candle wicks
Start by cleaning the jam jars - readily empty jam jars can cost you up to £2.50, if you buy Tesco Value Jam for around about 22p and clean the jars you've just saved yourself a small fortune.
Start by melting down the candles - quickest way is to put into a heat proof bowl (preferably one you wouldn't mind making a mess in) over a saucepan with water on the hob. This can take anywhere from 30-60 minutes but don't have the heat too high, because certain wax can be flammable! I had the pan a little above simmer.
Once your jars are clean, place your ready bought wicks into the jars. You can pick them up from any local craft store for around £3.00. Make sure to keep the wicks as central as possible for an even burn. Carefully pour in the wax and leave to cool.
Once the wax has set in the jars decorate and.......
..........There you have it your very own Christmas candles!
