REVIEW | Quorn Mince Lasagne.
I decided a few weeks ago that I eat far too much meat and wanted to cut down. In fact I have cut it right back to having it just a couple of times a week now. In it's place I have just been having either more veggies, pulses, sweet potato or - as we tried last night - Quorn mince.
I wanted to make a traditional lasagne and didn't want it to seem any different, my hubby could tell straight away that it wasn't real mince (I hadn't told him what I used) You can just tell though can't you? I must admit that I enjoyed it and would make it again but feel as though it will need a lot more seasoning next time (and I don't hold back on seasoning anyway).
Good mince meat is full of it's own flavour which just excels with all the other tastes of lasagne and quorn didn't quite match it. Even with all my usual seasoning it tasted a bit bland.
There are arguments for and against the use of Quorn. On the whole it doesn't appear to be that much healthier for you than meat so if I am having a meat free dinner I think I will stick with eating natural, plant based foods than something processed. I am not dissing Quorn, I am sure I will eat it again but for now I think if I make a beef lasagne again, I will add beef.
Have you tried Quorn? What do you think of it?
