BEAUTY | You're gorgeous, how can YOU have problems?!

MICHELLE AND MARK: Too gorgeous to have problems? |
On the odd day that I haven't felt like doing too much and have wanted to enjoy a cuppa and a lazy afternoon I have been treating myself to a trashy magazine to paw over.....guilty pleasures and all that!
One article that caught my eye recently was about celebrity couple Michelle Keegan and Mark Wright. The general gist of the article was that he is reportedly worrying about his career after his latest TV show is said to be a ratings flop and he is starting to panic. What caught my eye though was the fact the article pointed out that being such a gorgeous couple you would think they don't have any problems.
Errrm WUT?
Love em or hate em there is no denying that they are a beautiful couple, just imagine what their babies will look like! Nonetheless, their looks are irrelevant when it comes to life, careers and the big wide world. This isn't the first time I have seen this kind of attitude, I have witnessed it with friends or in the workplace and it seems to be quite a common theory:
"You're skinny / beautiful / gorgeous - what have you got to worry about?"
Well being beautiful won't pay the mortgage will it? If something happens to your car and you end up with a £300 repair bill showing off your winning smile won't settle the cost. It all comes down to that ever present notion of the world we live in today where all that matters is how you look and everything else doesn't matter.
You went to university and studied genetics? *yawn*
You speak fluent Italian? *yawn*
Wait, you just had your boobs done? OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG!!
You're having veneers? THAT'S AWESOOOMMEEEE.
You get my drift.
We are drawn to pretty and perfect things hence why manufacturers spend so much time and money on the perfect packaging for their products.
I am in no way saying I am innocent in this, I am always looking for ways to improve my hair, skin and general appearance but I do also believe in not judging a book by it's cover, beautiful or not. I have known stunningly attractive women with phenomenal insecurities and on the same scale I have known not so stunning women who think they are gorgeous. It takes all sorts to make this world go round.
So yes, Mich and Marky may be gorgeous and may holiday in Dubai and dine out in fine restaurants but they are still human and have worries just like the rest of us.
