Fashion: Thinking ahead.
Now we are in 2014 we are thinking about one thing: Warmer days!
This stretch between New Year and the longer, warmer Spring into Summer days can feel like a lifetime and because of the way our weather behaves it can also feel as though we are pulling on jumpers and hats for FOREVERRRR. With the recent sunshine lately though, it has made me think ahead into SS14 and what I want to wear this year and over the next couple of seasons. I am obviously not buying any new outfits now until after baby is born but that doesn't stop me looking and getting inspiration.
Black and white is big this season and so are floral patterns. There is also a trend for quilted fabrics especially wearing matching quilted fabrics. 90's grunge is also staying very much in from the look of things which I must admit I am very pleased about because I am so NOT over this trend yet. I have also heard that midi and full length skirts will be in too. It obviously isn't all about fashion and trends, we all have our key 'go to' items which we rely on year in and year out and that in some way personify who we are so I am always on the look out for fresh new updates on what faithful items I already have in my wardrobe.
Here is a little selection of items I have found and fallen in love with and must be mine to see me into the Spring post baby:
TEA DRESS.

DRESS: New Look £14.99 |
As you will well know, I love a tea dress! I did get rid of a couple last year because they had seen better days and so am in need of a couple of new ones. In Spring this little number from New Look would go great with frilly socks, chunky grungy boots and my oversized denim jacket and when we have a hot day (I believe we have them?) It will look great simply with some ballet pumps, funky chunky jewellery and a straw hat.
GREY MARL BOYFRIEND JACKET:

JACKET: New Look £34.99 |
I have spotted a couple of jackets in this style around and love this one from New look, one because it is very casual, two because of the price and three because it looks lightweight to me and so therefore is a perfect buy! I doubt it is an item that will stay on trend into 2015 (I could be very wrong of course) so you would want to make the most out of it this year! Aside from the odd boiling hot day we do tend to wear jackets on and off throughout the year and therefore would get a lot of great use out of this baby! Personally I would probably buy it a size smaller so it looks slightly oversized but not as though it is swamping me and wear it with skinny jeans and brogues, with a light jumper on cooler days or maybe with a nice statement print shirt, skinny jeans and ankle boots? You could even dress it up and wear it with heels when you are heading out somewhere for the evening, it would great over an LBD. This item definitely belongs in my wardrobe!
COLD SHOULDER T-SHIRT DRESS:

DRESS: River Island £22 |
I loved the cold shoulder look last year but didn't buy any tops or dresses in the range, this year they seem to still be in which is great and at the top of my cold shoulder wishlist is this gorgeous T-Shirt dress! I love the colour and love that it will be versatile whatever the weather. All in all though it will look great on a long hot summer day with either converse or flat sandals, a long necklace and a straw hat (do love me a straw hat!) Alternatively it would look great if you had your hair tied up in am messy bun using a bunny ear hair scrunchie to create a subtle vintage, head scarf look.
NEON ANIMAL PRINT DRESS:

DRESS: River Island £38 |
How gorgeous is this? Perfect for the Spring and Summer and could be dressed up or down. I love the eye catching colours too! Lastly I love the style, shape and fit of the dress; VERY flattering and feminine! I can see it being worn with chunky gold jewellery and a biker jacket in the evening for when it get's a bit chilly. I do think the fact it has a 'Tea Dress' look about it is what drew me to it initially!
BUBBLE MIDI SKIRT

SKIRT: Topshop £48 |
I love this skirt, feminine in every way from the fit to the colour. It would look gorgeous with a blouse tucked into it or with a cropped top. I love the length, again it is flattering and because it nips in at the waist it would make you look tiny! I can see this with a funky bralet and stiletto court shoes. You can also match this to the bubble top to stay completely on trend.
What do think of my choices?
Are there any other trends of items that are catching your eye more? I would love to hear!
