Product Review: Benefit 'They're Real' Mascara - Guest Post**
Hello there! My name's Erica, and I run a fashion & beauty blog over at givetheblogabone, and have my own YouTube channel. I buy far too much make-up than necessary, have enough clothes to dress everyone and their uncle's second dog, and somehow manage to rant and rave to all of my lovely followers. Today I'm doing a guest post for the lovely Nicki, and I've decided to do a review on one of my favourite products...
A holy-grail product is something that we all want. Whether it's a foundation that gives you a flawless finish and matches your skin colour perfect, or a lipstick that gives your mouth a Hollywood worthy smile, we're all in search for something that just makes our hypothetical make-up knees weak. And I've found mine. Benefit are, as we all know, utter geniuses when it comes to naming products. Their catchy slogans and gorgeous packaging have me glancing around their little make-up booths wherever I can get to, trying to pick something new. Their infamous 'They're Real' mascara hit the shops a few months back, and I was lucky enough to be one of the first to try it.
The sleek and sophisticated packaging has a nice metallic finish that looks great in your make-up bag, but is murder when trying to get a good photo of it! The tube itself is a little bit bulky in places, and quite long too, so if you're looking to cut down your make-up stash in your handbag I'd opt for the mini version that you can get.
The wand itself is actually plastic, with the short little bristles covering even the rounded top to enable you to coat all of your lashes. Normally, I tend to steer clear from plastic wands like this, because I find that it leaves my lashes clumping together and a bit spidery, but this has to be the exception. Yes, you've got to be careful when applying it otherwise it will go incredibly clumpy, but isn't that the same with all mascaras? The formula is jet black too, and although my lashes are naturally quite dark, this simply enhances them and makes them look even darker. And gorgeous-er.
From what I know about people who use this mascara, it's a bit of a hit-and-miss type of product. You either love it, or you hate it. I absolutely love it to the moon and back, and I will continue using it until I find a mascara that is better than it - and something tells me I'm going to have a long wait. This isn't really a natural looking mascara at all, more of a 'look at how long and fluttery my lashes look' type of product, which means that it might not be ideal for everyone, but for £18.00 I can whole-heartedly agree that every girl should have one of these in her handbag.
